Asking a stranger

Email Transcript earlier today:

Mr Loud: No backing out Freddy boy
Mr Night: I need phone credit too so when you’re ready
Mr X: If Fred backs out make it so he has to shout all 3 of us Coffee
Me: But guys, isn’t it going to be awkward asking a complete stranger out for coffee?
Mr X: Nah man, what have you got to lose?
Mr Loud: Dude, just go out there and do it
Mr Night: So what about them phone credits guys?

That was the plan, I agreed that today would be the day, I would ask her out for coffee but on one condition.  If we were going to do it then it would have to be at a designated time otherwise we would have to ask much later on.

Mr Loud: Whatever man, I’m ready
Mr X: Just think of it as looking at a car, if you don’t ask about that car, someone else will and you’ve lost the chance to purchase it.
Me: ……

We had devised it in this way;  if she was not available to serve me then we would bail out, but if she was in the store then we would all go and make sure that I would get served while the others would use line up just in case she was attending to someone else.  The first time around she must’ve been out and so I ended up bailing altogether since I thought it must’ve been a sign (I seriously think way too much).  It was only when we completed our round of shopping that Mr X suggested we go back and finish off what we set out to do.

Her: Hey how are you?
Me: Good, I’m just after the usual 5 dollar scratchy please.
Her: Sure which one were you after?
Me: Hmm, I’ll let you pick since I trust your taste.
Her: Nah you can pick cause the pressure is too much and there”s too many to choose from.
Me: Hmm sure I’ll just go with the Hot Cash one then.
Her: This one? OK sure.
Me: While I’ve got you here I was hoping to ask you maybe if you have some time, then you’d like to go out with me for coffee?
Her: …. Hmmmmmmmmmmm
(While all this was happening, I made sure that I remained composed and focused)
Me: A bit awkward yes?
Her: Yeah just a little bit
Me: Hey, it’s cool, if you’ve got the chance then give me a call *hands pre-written note with number and name*.  If not then it’s all good!

I paid her the money due for the scratchies, did not look back and walked to a waiting Mr Loud and Mr X.

Mr X: Nice job Fredster hahaha you the man!!
Mr Loud: Dude, she went to her bag and put the number in and had the biggest smile!!

It’s currently 12am and we’ve texted a few times back and forth, but for now this has been one %@#$ awesome day and I love it when things go to plan.
